and that was the speech that was supposed to introduce mr. romney. mr. romney's big show in tampa was neat. it was mostly well produced. it was at times inspiring, particularly for people who already agree with mr. romney. but it was not really about mr. romney very much at all. but what is maybe more surprising than how little we heard of mr. romney last week, is how much we heard of the man george w. bush. we made a big deal of the fact he was not going to the convention. we noted it, everyone noted it. it seemed important. after having left the country fighting two wars and in financial ruin four short years ago, mr. bush's party seems not ready to embrace him or his legacy, and it's true he did not go to the convention. he was not there in person. but it turned out he didn't need to be there in person. his stamp was all over the place in tampa. beyond the glossy, he was a nice guy video, substantively, george w. bush's foreign policy was the foreign policy of this republican convention. and apparently, it is the foreign policy of the republican party

it was a policy speech they timed to take place at the exact same time as a big mitt romney event in nevada. the romney campaign at least online did not go out of their way to provide the video of the paul ryan event or any of the highlights. again, that was the only public event that paul ryan had yesterday. we are now learning that while they are keeping paul ryan more out of public view than you would think at this point in the campaign, they are having paul ryan appear at all sorts of fund-raisers these days. fund-raisers this late in the game. they're fund-raisers in states that are definitely not swing states. it's not just this texas fund-raiser tonight with glenn beck and dick cheney, last night paul ryan was in georgia. this morning before the glenn beck event, paul ryan was at another event in texas. not a swing state. tomorrow he's scheduled to do two separate fund-raisers in south carolina and then tomorrow afternoon he's heading off to the great swing state of alabama. he's going to be in huntsville, alabama. this is not a persuade the undecided voters kind of schedule.

posted ten different excerpts of governor romney's speech at this fundraiser. twice it's posted in august and back in may, at youtube account posted more excerpts from the same speech including the original clip about the chinese factory. even those all those were posted on the web, weeks, if not months ago, the story went nowhere. the quality of the video was poor. you couldn't see if it was mitt romney or not. and nobody could verify the source of legitimacy of the tape. nothing happened even though this was technically out there on youtube. nothing happened until now. some reporters started moving copy of the story over the weekend and today we're told the same person who posted the clips in may and in august under my name and later in august under a different name, that same person gave the entire hour-long video of the fundraiser to mother jones magazine. the story was written by david corn, who you know from msnbc. he's a highly respected d.c. journalist. three and a half minutes of high-quality video were embedded with the story. you can clearly see and
